about

“Tonight We Take It Slow” - Grant Stevens.
Released 3rd September, 2022.
ISRC: DEUB21500114

A blast of 70’s attitude with a vocal to pin your ears back to in preparation for searing guitar and pure funk Fender Rhodes that carry the song to it’s rousing climax. A future Aussie rock classic.

This version of “Tonight We Take It Slow” was remixed by ARIA award winner Steve James who has produced the Screaming Jets, Neil Innes, The Rumjacks and everybody who is anybody in Aussie music. He has delivered a sterling production, as usual.

Taken from the 2022 Grant Stevens album, “Devil’s Machinery”.
“Tonight We Take It Slow” follows hard on the heels of “Cry to me” and “V8 Sandman”, both of which gave the AMRAP Metro Charts a top ten tickle earlier this year and in 2021.

lyrics

Tonight we take it slow

Slip your red dress on and meet me in your parlour
Turn the light down to deepest low
Kick off your high heels and sail me to your harbour
Tonight we take it slow

I’ve been to Mandalay where women shine like diamonds
Showed me everything I ever wanna know
They just can’t compare to the treasures you are hiding
Tonight ooh we take it slow

Took a journey down to the Sisterhood of Know How
Tongues of angels on show
Travelled the road that brought me back to you now
Ooh ooh tonight we take it slow

Slip your red dress on and meet me in your parlour
Turn the light down to deepest low
Kick off your high heels and sail me to your harbour
Tonight we take it slow
